To drive on Hungarian freeways and expressways marked with an "M", electronic vignettes are required for all motor vehicles, which are automatically checked via the license plate. A distinction is made between a total of five vehicle classes. Passenger cars with more than 7 seats are subject to higher tolls than passenger cars with up to 7 seats. Trailers with a towing vehicle with more than 7 seats are subject to additional tolls, and are then classified in class U. In the case of a caravan with up to 7 seats, the trailer is not subject to additional tolls. Motorhomes always fall into vehicle class D2, regardless of their gross vehicle weight. Motorcycles also need a vignette of class D1M or D1, depending on the validity period. We will explain which vignette you need in the ordering process. If you unintentionally drive onto a toll road without a vignette, you have a maximum of 60 minutes after driving onto the road to purchase a vignette. No additional charges are due during this hour.

No. You no longer need a physical product after successful registration. The digital vignette is linked to your license plate number and the system automatically recognizes whether and for which period your digital vignette is valid.

Yes, the registration confirmation should be carried as proof that the vehicle data has been recorded in the database and as proof for the validity period. In addition, the receipt must be kept for two years for evidentiary purposes in the event of any subsequent complaints.
