Since January 1, 2026, many new changes have come into force in Hungary. These include an extension of the toll road network, a price increase for all vignette types (daily, weekly, monthly, annual), new regional annual vignettes for the M1 motorway and the counties of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, as well as a tiered toll increase for vehicles over 3.5 t.
The M6 motorway to Ivándárda (south of Pécs) has been subject to tolls since January 1. This means that the vignette requirement now applies up to and from the border with Croatia.
The only new exemption from toll charges applies to historic vehicles. Please note that this exemption must be applied for at the national toll authority and renewed annually.
Since January 1, the prices for the Hungarian e-vignette have been increased. The new prices are as follows:
D1M:
D1:
D2:
U:
The annual vignettes for individual regions (“counties”) cost 7,190 HUF for the categories D1M, D1 and U. For category D2, the price is 14,370 HUF.
In addition to the standard nationwide annual vignette, regional annual vignettes for individual counties are still available. Since January 1, the following new vignette types have been introduced:
This annual vignette is valid for the counties of Pest, Fejér, Komárom-Esztergom and Győr-Moson-Sopron. The price is 15,000 HUF for the categories D1M, D1 and U, and 30,000 HUF for category D2.
This annual vignette is valid for the county of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén. The price is 2,500 HUF for the categories D1M, D1 and U, and 5,000 HUF for category D2.
All vehicles over 3.5 t that are subject to distance-based tolling are affected by a price increase. Motorhomes over 3.5 t are also subject to the increase. At the beginning of the year, toll rates were increased by 4.3% due to inflation adjustment. Important: As of March 1, 2026, prices will be increased again. Compared to 2025, this represents a total price increase of 35%.
